Alan Mocellim
Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and the Graduate Program in Social Sciences at the same institution; Holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of São Paulo (USP) and serves as vice-coordinator of the Digital Humanities Laboratory at UFBA (LABHD) and member of the Cultural Psychology Research Group (CULTS). He has a degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and in Psychology from UFBA, with a Master’s in Political Sociology from UFSC. His research and teaching interests include Sociological Theory, Sociology of Emotions, Sociology of Knowledge, Political Psychology, Cultural Psychology, and the Epistemology of the Human Sciences. He focuses on topics such as theories of modernization, rationalization, individualization, agency, rationality, self and personality, the relationship between sociology and psychology, epistemological issues in the human sciences, denialism, anti-science, pseudoscience, conflicts between religion and science, digital sociability, emotions and cognition in politics, collective narcissism, intergroup hostility, emotional suffering, cultural trauma, collective suffering, and romantic relationships. Additionally, he leads an outreach project producing digital content on emotional education and psychoeducation.
